The best thing anyone can do to prepare for uncertain economic times is build the LIFE business using the Team system. Top leadership guru Orrin Woodward, along with founders Policy Council (Chris Brady, Tim Marks, Claude Hamilton, Bill Lewis, Dan Hawkins and George Guzzardo ) members have developed information to help people in this important area. Getting finances under control and developing a secondary source of income with the LIFE business is a sound business strategy. This will help protect you from the economic squeeze that most people are feeling today.
I’ve prepared a simple scenario on the economy to simplify it. Jill and I have re- located to Arizona full time. We live in an older eight acre Hacienda / horse ranch. It requires lots of care. We have a pool service, landscaping, house keeping, horse care, and regular house remodeling. The workers who provide us services contract either weekly or bi weekly. All of the care - takers have other local contracts in addition to ours. All together they work six to seven days a week providing their services. From all their services, the typical worker takes in $1000 to $3000 monthly. Their services help them make a living. They pay their mortgages or rent. They buy food and clothes just like the rest of us. They have home, car, and health insurance to pay for. They do excellent work. By today’s standards they would be called middle class making about $35,000 to $40,000 a year. Some have spouses that work as well. They get by and are happy people. Jill and I so appreciate the services they offer. You might be able to relate to this scenario if you provide a service or are involved in manufacturing products that people consume.
The economy has other influencers. The ‘Progressives’ in charge of government feel that they know better how to use our money. They believe in social engineering or Keynesian economic theory. We call it tax. They take money from people paying taxes and use it to re distribute wealth, targeting a ‘failing infrastructure’, more government services, or entitlements for those less fortunate. Planning means that the plan of government should be substituted for plans of the individual citizens. This amounts to the transfer of control from local entrepreneurs and capitalists to the government. Some feel that this is a direct assault on the liberty of the people.
Depending on how much we spend on taxes determines our cost of living and how many workers we hire for services and home projects. If our expenses become too high, we cut back on workers for services and projects. They make less money, so they buy less products and services. Some of them no longer have jobs, because others in our location also cut services because of their tax increases. The jobless workers apply for unemployment entitlements. They are helped from these entitlements because they are no longer employed. I appreciate that our increased taxes have made their entitlements possible but wouldn’t it make more sense to keep them employed so they would have a sense that they provide a valuable service instead of living off the state? As Thomas Jefferson wrote, “Agriculture, manufactures, commerce, and navigation, the four pillars of our prosperity, are the most thriving when left to individual enterprise.”
Learning financial management is the best thing anyone can do in these uncertain times. In addition, add a stream of income by developing a home - based LIFE business using the Team business system. Develop a business that educates others to do the same. As Ludwig von Mises wrote, “A nation is more prosperous today the less it has tried to put obstacles in the way of the spirit of free enterprise and private initiative.” Join Orrin Woodward and the LIFE community as we help people understand that you don’t need a degree from Harvard to understand the simple workings of the economy. God Bless, George Guzzardo
