I just heard some thought provoking lyrics from the band, ‘Alan Parsons Project’, “Where do we go from here now that all of the children have grown up?" That song provoked me to think about another question, “How did we get here?’
I believe that Oliver DeMille’s new book 1913 may just provide some thought provoking answers to the question, “How did we get here?”. Could there be some information in his new book that answers how we got to the life we‘ve always lived? Is there enough time to help us learn just how to get us to the LIFE we always wanted? In addition to Oliver DeMille’s new book, I began to listen to the LIFE LLR CD pack I just received with a new sense of urgency to find answers.
Questions that came to my mind:
- What is the ‘Progressive Movement’?
- Who were the early progressives?
- What are the philosophies of the progressives?
Woodrow Wilson said, “The Declaration of Independence was obsolete." One of his closest advisors said, “Our Constitution served us well for the first hundred years of our existence, but under the conditions of today, it is not only obsolete, but even grotesque.” John Dewey influenced the current school structure and curriculums. He felt the Constitution’s view of liberty was “relative to the forces that at a given time and place are increasingly felt to be oppressive.” Franklin Roosevelt said, “The task of statesmanship has always been the redefinition of these rights in terms of the changing and growing social order.” As you can see, the progressive thought comes from the highly educated. Today it comes from the highly educated from Harvard, Yale, etc… The theory of the progressives is that they are more equipped to think and solve the needs of the people. After all, the educational system has been designed to get people a career, learn what to do, and work.
What are the current results of the progressive social engineering?
- * Private property is becoming less abundant as result of the real estate bubble and loose bank lending policies.
- * A heavy income tax is in place.
- * The state has monopolized banking and credit by creating the Federal Reserve Board.
- * We have monopolized the communication system. Check the content on the three large T.V. networks.
- * The state now owns large factories as demonstrated from bale outs.
- * The state has made the education system a career or job track program.
Is it possible to create a system that develops a ‘thinking class’ as emphasized in the original classical education we received prior to 1913? Is there a value for an affordable leadership development program? I’m excited about the information that will be coming out of Oliver DeMille’s new book, 1913. I’m sure his talk at the Team July summer convention will be insightful. It’s exciting and a breath of fresh air to hear truths that are not found on the twenty four hour news shows, or late night comedian’s. I’m grateful for the top leaders like Orrin Woodward who produce a world class system of information from the LIFE business. Many of us are so excited about the improvements in our relationships and financial education that we use the Team training system and begin developing a leadership community. What you do with this life changing information is up to you. Only you can decide, “Where do we go from here?’ God Bless, George Guzzardo
